Mazatlán, Sin.- In Sinaloa there is a deficit of more than 63 thousand homes, according to the latest study carried out in September 2022, revealed deputies of the Housing Commission in the local Congress.

During a work tour in Mazatlán, to learn about the real needs of the southern municipalities, deputy María Victoria Sánchez Peña, president of said commission, stated that they were previously in Ahome and Guasave.

After the meeting with representatives of the governments of San Ignacio, Mazatlán, Concordia, El Rosario and Escuinapa, Sánchez Peña mentioned that with this meeting they will learn first-hand about the strengths and weaknesses of each of the municipalities to address this lag, as well as find out if they have territorial reserves for it, especially now that overcrowding has increased due to lack of housing.

“In the end, it is for us to carry out a study, an analysis, to have an x-ray of how the municipalities are really doing, how we from the State Congress can help or see in the work tables how we can help the municipalities so that they can comply with that commitment that must be from the municipality and it is the obligation of the municipality as well,” sokishe said.

For his part, Marco César Almaral Rodríguez assured that there is a significant housing gap in Sinaloa.

“As of September 2022, we recognize that there is a housing deficit in our state of more than 63,000 homes, that is why those of us who make up the Housing Commission have come to a proactive, and respectful dialogue with the five southern municipalities and get know the X-ray of each municipality,” he said.

The president of the Housing Commission added that to address this deficit, the state government has an item of 25 million pesos to use in the construction of floors and roofs, however, he recognized that the resource is insufficient, since it would touch each municipality between 15 and 17 roofs and the same number of floors, and has not dispersed.

“We are waiting for the guidelines to disperse that resource of 25 million pesos, but that by next week we will have the knowledge of the guidelines that they are going to publish to exercise these resources,” María Victoria Sánchez concluded.
