Mazatlan Mayor will announce new covid protocols

MAZATLÁN.- Given the imminent arrival of the Ómicron variant to Mexico, Mazatlán is already preparing so that a fourth wave does not happen.

Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres reported that, together with his staff, he is working on the creation of new measures to implement them once December begins.

He commented that the new health protocol model brings stricter rules than the previous ones, this, to avoid at all costs the rise in infections during the holidays, not only due to the imminent arrival of Ómicron.

“With the protocols department we are well taken care of”, he limited himself to saying.

Although the restrictions in the port will increase, Benitez Torres expressed that it would be very premature to speak of a confinement for these dates, because the economy is just as important as health, so inns and public events will be allowed, always and when the organizers and attendees respect the security measures.

“We are going to do with the care that should be, yes, but we cannot and less in these times the massive events, the economy is important, we have to balance both things.”

What happened to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine donation?

Enchanted! So are the 500,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines that sister city, Mision, Texas donated to Mazatlán.

After more than 5 months of having made the donation public, the municipality has not been able to benefit from said “donation”, due to the difficulty of the procedures.

Presentation of the new protocol

According to the municipal president, the announcement of the new sanitary measures will be given next Monday, December 6.
