The mayor acknowledged that any event is a risk, but that if health protocols are taken care of and followed, they can be carried out

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Despite the global alert for the Covid-19 Omicron variant, in Mazatlán massive events will be allowed, such as the “Yakifest” that will take place this Wednesday at the Convention Center, but with the care that must be followed with the City Council’s protocol department, it will be well taken care of, said Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres.

He recognized that any event is a risk, but he minimized it by not having any case yet of the new variant of the coronavirus, Ómicron, in addition to the fact that they cannot prohibit massive events and more in these times, where the economy is important, just like health, but both things must be balanced, where both society and entrepreneurs collaborate.

“Fortunately there is no case of this variant of Covid here in Mexico, and taking care that we have less, (but) we must take care of ourselves, we already had the first meeting yesterday and on Monday we are going to tell you what measures we are going to take to protect ourselves, we are going to continue increasing restrictions, “he said.

Mayor Benítez Torres considered it premature to decide on possible confinement and closure of businesses, but in the case of the posadas, which are already nearby, he said that they will be carried out with the care that must be taken.

She assured me that the person in charge of protocols and security has taken her from other parts of the city to give training.

Mayor Benítez Torres reported that the donation of vaccines continues to advance by the sister city of Mission, Texas, as they are told not to lose hope.

In addition, he ratified the head of Immujer, María del Carmen Ramírez, and also announced that next year a National Guard barracks will be built in the municipality.
