Things to do while Watching NHL

5 things that you can do to improve your life while you watch the NHL

We all lead really busy lives and set aside a whole afternoon just to watch Hockey can seem like a waste of time.

While psychology studies show that taking time off to do things that you enjoy, is never wasted time. Sometimes we just don’t have the time to spare.

The real problem arises when we try to multitask. We can either do one thing well or two things half as well. While watching an NHL match doesn’t require a great deal of concentration, you don’t want to distract yourself from doing something else that is important – like a piece of work, for example.

Below you will find a list of tasks you can complete while watching the NHL that don’t require too much concentration. With a few of these tasks, the distraction offered by hockey is actually a good thing.

What is even better is, if you do one (or more) of these tasks while watching the match, by the time it’s finished you will have improved your life a little bit.

#1 – Clean your living room

Activity #1 is to clean the room that you are watching the match in.

If you gather all the equipment you need before the match starts then you won’t have to miss a second of the game.

You can dust, wipe, and scrub your way through the match, and by the time the match is done your living room will be spotless. The best part is when you’re concentrating on something else it barely feels like cleaning.

To make this task even easier, create a list of what needs to be done before you start and work through it as the match plays out.

You will obviously want to save any vacuuming until halftime.

#2 – Place a bet

Activity #2 is to place a bet.

If you want to add a little more excitement to watching the game, why not place a bet.

You could bet on the outcome of the match, or place a few In-Game bets.

In-Game betting options often include who is going to score next, will there will be a penalty given in the next 10 minutes, and will the keeper save the next shot on target.

There are endless options that will help to keep you entertained during the match.

#3 – Workout

When we have a really busy day, we love to pair our workout with another activity to save ourselves some time.

One of our favorite ways to do this is to work out while watching sport – particularly, Hockey matches.

The players in the NHL are so physically strong and work so hard during the matches that we often find ourselves feeling like a potato while watching the match.

We can beat this feeling, get a workout in, and improve our health by getting in a sweaty workout session during the match.

#4 – Do your ironing!

We all have that one mindless chore that we put off all week because it’s no fun and we really don’t want to do it.

Reward yourself for doing the task by watching the match while you do it.

For us, it’s ironing. We hate it with a passion but we have to iron our clothes for work. It’s an unavoidable task.

However, when we set our board up in front of the TV, tune in to the match, and iron away – well, before we know it the chore is done and there is over half a match left to enjoy!

#5- Make your art

Most of us have an artistic hobby that we love*. But most of us feel like we don’t have enough time to do it.

The trick is to make time for your hobbies.

So, why not make the most of the time you spend watching hockey and get some art done.

Grab your needle, hook, pen, brush, or whatever your tool of choice is and get making. You could even make some art based on your favorite NHL team or player.

*If you don’t have an artistic habit, you should try one out. Hobbies are great for reducing stress levels. You don’t have to be good at it, you just need to have fun.
