The municipal treasurer, Armando Morales Aparicio, said that at the beginning of the current administration, “Angelopolis” (as the city of Puebla is known), was in 35th place nationwide in debt, while by 2020 it went to 84th place, according to the Center for Public Finance Studies of the Chamber of Deputies.

“The resources will be used to attend to the needs of the citizens since the budget has been programmed until October, which will be when the current municipal government ends its functions,” he explained.

Mayor Claudia Rivera Vivanco assured that the indebtedness was the result of “the corruption of the past regime” and it is a payment that has been “dragged” by the people of Puebla.
