MAZATLÁN, SINALOA._ For the first time at the beginning of Semana Santa, the beaches of Mazatlán look deserted, in compliance with the provisions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
More than 15 kilometers of beaches, from Isla de la Piedra to Cerritos, were deserted at different times of the day, only one or two people could be seen, but they were removed by lifeguards who maintain surveillance to enforce the provision.
Last week, the State Governor, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, announced that to prevent further spread of the pandemic, all hotels and beaches in Sinaloa were going to be closed down.
Also the Secretary of the Navy, as the maritime authority, determined the prohibition of nautical tourism, sport fishing, and recreation boat services.
