A few days after the Governor’s call, the Mazatlán City Council officially orders the temporary closure of bars and nightclubs due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The announcement came amid the most recent session of the Municipal Health Committee held inside the municipal palace behind closed doors on Thursday March 26th.

Leading the meeting, Mazatlan Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres said that in the case of restaurants and other businesses in the city, they will be able to remain open to the public, but keeping a healthy distance and following the corresponding sanitary preventive measures.

Accompanied by the Epidemiologist of the Sanitary Jurisdiction number 6, Santiago Reyes Reyes, the Municipal President announced that he is working on an economic rescue plan, involving a quarantine in the port.

“El Químico” also revealed that economic support will be distributed to 10 thousand low-income people, considering the most vulnerable sector of society, foreseeing that they can sustain themselves for at least two weeks.
