Mazatlan receives first flight from Edmonton, Canada, by Swoop airlines

Mazatlan Sinaloa.- The Ministry of Tourism, municipal authorities and the tourism sector of this city, today received the first flight of the Canadian airline Swoop, which will directly cover the Edmonton-Mazatlan route, arriving twice a week.

At a press conference, on behalf of the Secretary of Tourism Óscar Pérez, the Undersecretary of Tourism Operation, Planning, and Investment, Mónica Coppel Tirado, accompanied by Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez and Swoop’s marketing leader, Kelly Steward, said that from this day, new flights will arrive on Wednesdays and Saturdays, “and this will be until April 25, 2020.”

He added that it is a plane with capacity for 189 passengers, and this time it arrived with 178, which speaks of the confidence that foreign visitors have in this tourist destination; on Wednesdays it will arrive at 13:47 pm and it will leave 14:45 pm, and on Saturdays it will arrive at 12:13 pm and it will leave at 13:15 pm

With this flight, the winter season practically begins, and this will be a great benefit for Mazatlan, which is in fashion and with better results, making an alliance with the municipality, business partners in the United States and Canada.

In this regard, the head of the Óscar Pérez Barros Sectur, mentioned that, this is the result of a joint effort between business partners and the Ministry of Tourism and will continue with the task to benefit Sinaloa in economic development and seek to connect it with a greater number of destinations, according to the instructions of the Governor of the State Quirino Ordaz Coppel.

In turn, Kelly Steward said she was very excited about the partnership that has been made with Mazatlan, where there are many varied and rich experiences so that Canadians can come to share and experience all the attractions they have, expressing that they have good rates for coming in the winter, which start at $ 100, which means that more Canadians can pay the wreck and come to Mazatlan.
For his part, Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez thanked the airline for bringing this new flight to Mazatlan; We celebrate it because the work done by the State Government and the municipality is giving favorable results, he said.

He also said that “we offer the city, amenities, services, but mainly the hospitality of people and gastronomy; We are working to detonate the port as a tourist destination, he added.

The Marketing Director of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Mazatlan, Julio Birrueta Covarrubias, delivered at the end of the conference, the Golden Deer award to Swoop, as the best airline in Canada, for his valuable support in the tourist promotion of the port.

There was also the director of the Tourist Assistance and Protection Center of Mazatlan (Capta), Astrid Macías Fregoso.
