Banxico presents a new $ 200 bill; ‘says goodbye’ to Sor Juana

The new 200 peso bill is in circulation as of this Monday

The Bank of Mexico ( Banxico ) presented a new 200-peso bill, which will be in circulation as of Monday with an image that will dispense with Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and instead will have those of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and José María Morelos and Pavón.

The bill is the second to be released from the new family. On the obverse, it has the images of the heroes of Independence, while on the reverse there is a golden eagle, desert and scrubs ecosystem and a view of the El Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and Great Altar Desert.

During the presentation of the ticket, the governor of Banxico, Alejandro Díaz de León, indicated that the ticket has better security measures, aesthetic attributes and the representation of the greatest exponents of the Independence of Mexico.

He pointed out that the ticket is the result of joint work with academic institutions and research centers, as well as the opinion of the users, which was done through focus groups

By 2020, new bills

The governor of the central bank informed that next year new bills with denominations of one thousand and 100 pesos will be put into circulation, which will contain the representation of the Mexican Revolution and the stage of the Colony, respectively.
