The hotel industry foresees occupations higher than 90 percent after Christmas, as tourists prefer to go to the destination to spend the new year
Mazatlan, Sinaloa. During the vacation period of December, Mazatlan returns to recover part of its tourist influx, but this situation gains more strength spending Christmas.
According to the Association of Hotels Three Islands, the levels of reservations as of January 26 will be over 90 percent, being mostly national visitors that take between 4 and 6 hours to arrive from their home sites.
On the other hand, the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies (AHyET), noted that hotels began to register more reservations as of December 20, the date on which officially began their vacation. At the same time, he presumed that “for the New Year there are practically no rooms available”.
Both associations and different sectors related to tourism agree that this reactivation occurs on these dates because people prefer to spend Christmas at home and travel to enjoy the New Year in the port, so they expect the influx to decrease once started the year, until January 6, which is when the vacation period ends.
