The Mazatlan-Durango highway is full of repair works. At least five points on this route are signs and maneuvering areas that slow down road traffic.
In at least three sites the traffic flow to a single lane is restricted. This is the case in the area at kilometer 173 and in the El Carrizo and El Carrizo 2 tunnels. Road personnel is responsible for warning drivers about areas of slow traffic. The secretary of Tourism of Durango, Eleazar Gamboa, trusted that in three weeks they finish at the end the works that have already been prolonged for about seven months. He noted that the repairs have been done in the best way to ensure adequate repair of the highway after a fuel pipe exploded.
