- Renaming Proposals: Just one day earlier, Trump posted a map crossing out the word “Mexico” from the state of New Mexico, replacing it with “America.” He claimed supporters suggested renaming it “New America,” drawing a swift rebuke from New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who stated the state’s name is non-negotiable.
