Authorities are forecasting continuous waves between 2 and 2.5 meters high throughout the weekend, conditions that could favor the formation of rip currents and trenches on the seabed.
Gustavo Espinoza, commander of the Aquatic Rescue Squad, urged residents and tourists to take extreme precautions, respect the red flags, and follow the instructions of lifeguards at all times.
The restrictions include the stretch between the Sea Lion Monument and the photo stop on Rafael Buelna Avenue, as well as some beaches on Isla de la Piedra and Cerritos, in addition to the areas known as Sábalo 1 and Sábalo 2.
Rescue personnel will maintain constant patrols along the coastline to guide visitors, identify dangerous areas, and keep swimmers within designated safe zones.
Red flags will be posted at locations where currents or high-risk conditions are detected, indicating that entering the water is prohibited.
The Municipal Public Security Secretariat also asked that children and teenagers be kept under constant supervision, and that lifeguards be called immediately if an emergency is observed in the water.
