The Wildlife Hospital at the Gran Acuario continues to solidify its position as a fundamental pillar in the protection and rescue of the region’s wildlife, thanks to its constant and dedicated work.
Since 2023, this specialized facility has provided medical care and rehabilitation to more than 850 animals of various species, many of them rescued in vulnerable or at-risk conditions. Among the animals treated are iguanas, pelicans, badgers, primates, toucans, foxes, and an ocelot, which is currently in good health under professional care and monitoring.
One example of these rescues was that of the young ocelot on October 8th. Rescued at the end of July after being apparently hit by a car in the municipality of Concordia, it is showing significant signs of recovery under the care of the Gran Acuario Mazatlán medical team.
The animal was found injured by a local family, who alerted the authorities and helped transport it to the Wildlife Hospital. Upon admission, it was diagnosed with multiple fractures, and its condition was considered critical for the first few weeks.
Each rescue represents a story of hope and a collaborative effort between veterinarians, caretakers, and specialists who work daily to ensure animal welfare and, when possible, the reintegration of the animals into their natural habitat.
With these actions, the Gran Acuario (Great Aquarium) reaffirms its commitment to conservation, environmental education, and social responsibility, actively contributing to the protection of regional biodiversity and the strengthening of a culture of respect for wildlife.
