The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, announced two operations this Sunday that, he stated, represent direct blows against those responsible for generating violence in the country.

The operations, carried out in Chiapas and Sinaloa, resulted in the arrest of 14 people and the seizure of weapons, vehicles, tactical equipment, and 320 kilograms of methamphetamine.

In Chiapas, a coordinated operation in San Cristóbal de Las Casas led to the capture of 12 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

García Harfuch explained that the Pakal Immediate Reaction Force participated in the operation, along with the State Attorney General’s Office, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the SSPC, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of the Navy. These agencies seized long and short firearms, vehicles, narcotics, and various tactical equipment.

The official emphasized that this action dismantles criminal cells and strengthens the security of the people of Chiapas, stating that inter-institutional coordination “inhibits the main generators of violence.”

Meanwhile, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, federal authorities seized 320 kilos of methamphetamine hidden in a Volvo tractor-trailer with a refrigerated compartment. The FGR’s Criminal Investigation Agency and the Security Cabinet participated in this operation.

Agents arrested two people for drug-related offenses and secured the shipment, which, according to García Harfuch, would have resulted in “thousands of doses on the streets.”

The message posted on social media included photographs of the tractor-trailer and the refrigerated compartment where authorities located the alleged illicit cargo.
