The Marco Lugo Cinema at the Municipal Arts Center (CMA) was dressed up for the occasion with the visit of renowned filmmaker Bernard Rose, who held important meetings with students and the general public of Mazatlán.
The meeting took place on Saturday, October 25th, with a double bill at the CMA, where his feature films “Frankenstein” (2015) and “My Immortal Beloved” (1994) were screened. After the screenings, the renowned American filmmaker kindly shared his knowledge in a master class.
Nearly 20 attendees listened attentively to Rose’s remarks, as he offered advice, shared perspectives, and answered questions. The enriching midday meeting lasted over an hour.
Professors Julio Recinos and Edén Martínez expressed their gratitude to the filmmaker, emphasizing that this type of approach broadens students’ horizons and gives them more tools to develop their talents, whether in short films, commercials, or feature films.
“One of my dreams is to make a film in Mexico, in Durango, since there are ideal locations there. Furthermore, major productions have been filmed there, and artists such as Al Pacino have come here. It would be an honor,” said Bernard Rose.
During the session, the professors also showed Rose a trailer for “Gracias Papá,” a film by Jen Kuhn shot in Mazatlán with the participation of actors and local residents, which received positive reviews from the guest.
