Since early Saturday morning, the port of Mazatlán has experienced heavy rains resulting from Tropical Storm Raymond, which has left significant accumulations in various areas of the municipality.
Municipal President Estrella Palacios Domínguez reported that, so far, no flooded neighborhoods have been reported and that the stormwater system remains operating without incident.
“Fortunately, there are no reports of flooding; the canals remain at around 40% of their capacity, and there are no risk situations in any neighborhood.”
Palacios Domínguez also highlighted the operation of the recently commissioned drainage ditch in the Conapesca area, which has helped prevent water accumulation and has allowed for uninterrupted mobility in the area.
According to the weather forecast, rainfall of between 50 and 75 millimeters is expected throughout the day in Mazatlán.
Raymond is located approximately 45 kilometers south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h (34 mph) and gusts of up to 75 km/h (46 mph), moving northwest at 22 km/h (14 mph).
Municipal and Civil Protection authorities urged the public to take precautions, avoid crossing streams or flooded areas, and stay informed through official channels. In case of emergency, they reminded everyone that support can be requested by calling 911.
