Organized crime hit in Sinaloa: eight arrested, monster cars, and weapons confiscated

In a joint operation carried out in the municipality of Angostura, in the state of Sinaloa, members of the Mexican Army, in collaboration with the National Guard (GN), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), arrested eight people and seized vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.

This deployment was carried out as part of efforts to combat illicit activities in the region. According to information provided by authorities, security forces conducted ground reconnaissance in various communities in the municipality.

During these operations, five homemade armored vehicles, known as “monsters,” were located and seized in the towns of Dámaso Cárdenas and Rafael Buelna, along with an as yet unspecified number of weapons, magazines, and cartridges.

The eight detained civilians, along with the seized vehicles and weapons, were handed over to the relevant authorities to begin the relevant investigations.

The use of homemade armored vehicles, commonly referred to as “monsters,” has been a recurring feature in operations against criminal groups in Mexico.

These vehicles are typically modified to withstand firearms and are used by criminal organizations to transport personnel and weapons.

Meanwhile, in another joint operation carried out by the Mexican Army, in collaboration with the National Guard, the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the Attorney General’s Office, the State Attorney General’s Office, and the State Public Security Secretariat, the discovery of a vehicle with homemade armor, magazines, and ammunition was reported in the municipality of Mocorito, in the state of Sinaloa.

According to authorities, the discovery took place near the town of Rancho Viejo, in the municipality of Pericos, while reconnaissance work was being carried out in the area.

The operation resulted in the seizure of a total of 181 cartridges of various calibers, eight magazines, cartridge clips, and three tactical helmets, in addition to the armored vehicle.

All seized material was handed over to the competent authorities, who will be responsible for conducting the corresponding investigations and proceeding in accordance with the law.

According to information provided by the authorities, these actions are part of the joint efforts between the federal government and the state government to guarantee the safety of the residents of Sinaloa.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting citizens and emphasized the importance of using the emergency numbers 911 to report urgent situations and 089 to file anonymous reports.
