In a joint effort to boost regional tourism promotion ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the governments of Sinaloa, Nuevo León, and Durango signed a significant cooperation agreement during the International Tianguis Mexico event in Tijuana.
The pact aims to position Mazatlán, Monterrey, and Durango as key international tourist destinations by consolidating a regional strategy that fosters connectivity, tourist flows, and cultural and recreational offerings across these three states.
At the signing ceremony, Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, highlighted the significance of this intergovernmental alliance, particularly in light of the upcoming World Cup where Monterrey will be one of the host cities. “Sinaloa joins this regional effort with Mazatlán as a leading destination on the Pacific coast, offering not only sun and beaches but also strategic connections to northern Mexico and southwestern United States,” she said.
Additionally, Sosa Osuna announced the signing of two strategic agreements with travel platforms Despegar and PriceTravel, both considered among the most prominent in Latin America. These partnerships will enhance international promotion of Sinaloa’s tourist destinations and include Los Mochis as the “gateway to the Copper Canyon” in Despegar’s campaigns.
The secretary also emphasized that these agreements would boost visibility for Sinaloa’s five Magical Towns (Cosalá, El Fuerte, El Rosario, Mocorito, and San Ignacio) as well as the state’s entire tourist offer, spanning from the north to the south of Sinaloa.
