The  Ministry of Health  (SSa) reported that until this Thursday, August 12 3,045,571 cases of accumulated infections of coronavirus ( COVID-19) have been registered. In addition, since the beginning of the epidemic, Mexico has suffered  246,811 deaths from the disease.

This represents that there was an increase of  24,975 infected in the last 24 hours, as well as  608 deaths.

With this number of infected , the record of cases registered in one day was broken again, which was 22,711 reached on August 11; before that it was on January 21, during the second wave with 22,339.

Hospital capacity has been reduced, eight states have already exceeded 70% in general beds: Colima 86.42%, Veracruz 76.47%, Puebla 76.38%, Guerrero 74.29%, Hidalgo 73.92%, Nuevo León 73.82%, San Luis Potosí 71.58%, Nayarit 70.98%, while Mexico City has already dropped to 67.43%.

Likewise, there are  2,390,075 people recovered , 5,432,092 negative cases and a total of 8,963,237  people studied  from the first case.

According to the daily technical statement, as of today there are estimated  133,780 active cases of the disease in the country; that is, patients who began to present symptoms in the last 14 days (July 30 to August 12, 2021).

The  entities with the highest number of  active cases  of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are:  Mexico City, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Veracruz,  Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Guerrero, Puebla, Guanajuato and Nayarit, which together 97% of these cases are concentrated in another 16 entities in the country.

Regarding hospital availability, the average occupation of  general beds in health centers is  54%  and  46%  for intensive therapy beds.

The states with the highest percentage in general bed occupancy are Colima  (87%),  Guerrero  (76%) and  Puebla  (74%). In turn, those with the highest percentage in beds with aventilators are  Colima  (85%), Nayarit (72%) and  CDMX  (70%).

On the international scene, there are a total of 204,644,849 infections and 4,323,139 accumulated deaths worldwide. In the last 24 hours, 659,772 and 9,971 were reported  respectively. The overall fatality is 2.1 percent.

Currently, Mexico is the  fourth country in the world with the most deaths  from the coronavirus, only below the United States, Brazil and India; and it is number 15  in number of  infections,  according to the latest update from Johns Hopkins University.

Vaccination advance

Regarding the session of the National Vaccination Strategy against SARS-CoV-2,  Dr. Hugo López-Gatell , Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, announced that so far  74,802,779 doses of the formulas have been applied  Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Janssen, Sinovac, and CanSino.

Only in the cutoff of August 10, 1,031,029 new doses were applied .

Of that total,  28,384,141 people have received the complete schedule  (two doses or one, as is the case with the Cansino and Janssen vaccine). This means that  59% of the population aged 18 and over have received at least one dose  in the country, according to the Ssa.

The entities with the highest percentages of vaccinated population are in descending order:  Mexico City,  Quintana Roo,  Sinaloa,  Baja California, Baja California Sur,  Chihuahua, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes.

The  Dr. Hugo Lopez-Gatell , undersecretary of prevention and health promotion, stressed Thursday via a video on his Twitter account that all vaccines applied in Mexico are safe, so we made a special call to the women over 10 weeks pregnant  to attend sumistración centers to begin immunization.
