San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas.- The Municipal Public Works continues with dredging and cleaning works on the Yellow River in the neighborhood of Tlaxcala 1, 2, and 3, Molinos las Rosas, La Isla, and the Emiliano Zapata in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, with the objective of avoiding future floods and recovering the width of the riverbed.
Aldair Hernández Supervisor responsible for the works mentioned that during these works automotive parts, plastic bags, refrigerators, concrete, garbage, among others waste have been extracted reducing the water flow.
Eduardo Ramón Espinoza Gómez, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Molino las Rosas subdivision: acknowledged that the work carried out with 320 excavators: “In 30 years there has not been a dredging with machinery of these characteristics and it is the first administration to withdraw this amount of mud, especially in the part that has been affected in the Tlaxcala neighborhood ”.
Espinoza Gómez warned that the invasions on the banks of the rivers have generated floods: “There are buildings occupying the riverbanks and that generates a bottleneck that causes floods in the neighborhood of Tlaxcala, Mexicanos, and Molinos las Rosas.”
