With the enigmatic and majestic main road of the Pantheon of the East as stage, the Municipal Government through the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture (IMAC), made the presentation of the 2019 Day of the Dead Festival program, which is being held from October 25 to November 3 under the name of Muuki Festival, word of Tepehuano origin that means Death, referring to the largest ethnic group in the state of Durango.
A Monumental Altar de Muertos was placed in the Plaza de Armas.
A regional music concert will also take place with the performance of “Los Guayaberos”, the musical duet of Briza and Yuvia, the Plenilunio vocal group, the singers Ana Manzanera, Juan Ochoa and Alfredo Carrillo.
The Folkloric Dance Groups “Tierra Mestiza”, of the School of Mexican Music and of the Benemérita and Centenaria Normal School of the State, among others, are also participating in this festival.
Other activities that stand out in the program are the workshops, night tours and film projections at the Benigno Montoya Museum, as well as outdoor movie projections inside the Pantheon of the East, with a thematic programming by the municipal Cineteca.

An exhibition of representative day of the dead altars from different regions of Mexico.
The recital of the Cardencheras Durangueñas; as well as the cultural presence of different local schools, neighborhoods and colonies.
And finally, a conference alluding to “food as a means of linking with the dead”.
