Sinaloa Governor presumes a 23% reduction in murders in Sinaloa


Quirino Ordaz Coppel, governor of Sinaloa presumed the reduction of 23% of murders in the state

Culiacán, Sinaloa .- A 23 percent reduction in murders, specifically the intentional homicides recorded in the accumulated from January to April of this year, compared to the same period of 2018, said Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel. 

Although during the month of April there was an increase in this crime, it has to be considered that it was lower in relation to January, he explained. According to the figures of the state agent, from January to April of this year there were 286 homicides, against 373 of the previous year; and 533 of 2017. 

” They were 103 in April 2018 against 80 this year; that is, 29 percent less, and if we compare month to month, for example January 2019 were 81, February 66, March 59, April 80, has even been below the month of January, which is 35 percent more in the comparison of the month, “he explained. 


In the case of feminicide, there have also been advances because it registered 14 percent less compared to last year. 

In the case of vehicle theft, also from January to April it was reduced by 18 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. 

For Quirino Ordaz Coppel has been the investment made in El Sauz and have 3 thousand 500 military police permanently in Sinaloa which has contributed a lot in the lowering of high impact crimes: ” Let’s not forget that Culiacán is the capital of the state and is where there is more criminal incidence , “he explained. 


To continue with the decline in all crimes in the state is investing in equipment and professionalization of the police, and every time they are forming new elements. 

For his part, Renato Ocampo Alcántar, executive secretary of the State Public Security System, acknowledged that they had an increase in intentional homicides during the month of April, but even so the trend continues to fall.

This forces them to redouble their efforts in all instances of Public Security. 

He also agreed that the good results have been maintained by the implementation of prevention, containment and social proximity strategies developed by Public Security institutions. 

Finally, he noted as important the participation that has been had of its citizens.
