With the arrival of tourists from the United States and Canada to Mazatlán beginning in October, seeking more pleasant temperatures, road security must also be strengthened to boost tourism, real estate, and commercial activity in the port.
This was stated by hotel entrepreneur Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, who stated that Mazatlán just concluded a summer vacation period in July and August, with favorable results, as hotel occupancy reached 80 percent and generated a positive economic impact.
He added that the three levels of government must maintain coordination on the security strategy and thereby strengthen the perception that Mazatlán is a safe and peaceful vacation destination.
“Mazatlán has a nightlife. In Mazatlán, we can go out to dinner at night. In other words, Mazatlán truly has a life (…) Mazatlán has a nightlife. Mazatlán has economic activity, and we need to take great care of that to ensure it continues, so that tourists from the northern economic corridor continue to visit us. We also need to maintain the highways: Durango, Mazatlán, Culiacán, Mazatlán, because perception is very important.”
The Vice President of Tourism at the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce mentioned that in the last three months of the year, more work must be done in conjunction with the authorities to ensure stability and security.
He noted that 2025 will not meet the expectations of business owners compared to the previous year; however, he emphasized that progress has been made amid the security crisis in Sinaloa.
“I, in the company, in administration, and many colleagues, as long as we don’t, as they say, put money into business, we’re making progress. Some of them are somewhat useful, it’s good, it’s positive. Obviously, we’re not in the same conditions as on the 24th, but they are favorable. I mean, they’re good, they’re favorable.”
