The use of motorcycles is increasing in Mazatlán, since from January to the end of July of this year, 7,200 units have been registered with the Municipal Tax Collection Office.
This is, said the Tax Collector in Mazatlán, David González Torrentera, an increase of 10 percent compared to 2023.
The state official reported that last year 6,500 motorcycles were registered, while four months before the end of 2024, 700 have already been added.
Currently, motorcycles represent 16.6 percent of the municipality’s vehicle registry, trucks 20.5 percent, and cars 62 percent.
“There has been a very important growth in the vehicle registry, there are currently 258 thousand vehicles registered in our municipality, of these 160 thousand are cars, approximately 53 thousand are trucks, and something that has had a lot of increase are motorcycles, there are currently around 43 thousand motorcycles registered, so far this year we have registered around 7 thousand 200 motorcycles, and in all of 2023, around 6 thousand 500 were registered,” he said.
Collection
Due to the increase in the vehicle registry, collection has also grown, since vehicle taxes have been placed as number one at the municipal level, and Income Tax has moved to second place.
During July, the Revenue Collection office closed with income of 935 million pesos, which represents 10 percent more than the same period last year, when it was 870 million pesos.
