Five tourists rescued on Mazatlan beaches due to strong currents; they entered prohibited areas

Five new rescues of national tourists who were at risk when pulled by strong currents on the beaches of Mazatlán were carried out by members of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron. Among the victims, a woman and a man entered the sea in a prohibited area.

Iván Alejandro Barrón Ureña, commander of the corporation, announced that the national visitors Edson “N” and Ana “N” aged 45, went to bathe in the area of the breakwaters of Gaviota beach, despite the fact that red flags were placed in that area, prohibiting entry due to the serious risk of the waves.

In this case, the rescue personnel had to enter with Jet Sky to rescue them and take them to the shore, where they were given medical attention, but they only showed fatigue from the effort they made in trying to get out.

He commented that despite the warnings posted on the various beaches, many visitors do not heed the recommendations and enter the sea and have problems trying to return to land, since the rip currents are very strong.

Barrón Ureña indicated that in a new triple rescue, on the same Gaviotas beach, lifeguards managed to rescue a father and two minor children, originally from the state of Nuevo León, who were being pulled by the current.

Tourists Josué “N” aged 50, Diego “N” aged 15 and Job “N” aged 12, did not require medical assistance, since they only presented fatigue and nervousness when exposed to a greater risk by not being able to get out of the sea.
