Shipping tourism continues to strengthen in Mazatlán. In July alone, 19,720 passengers and 5,683 crew members arrived at this destination, despite the fact that these dates are considered low season, said Jesús Rigel Sánchez Garzón.
The Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán highlighted that from January to July, the port received a total of 65 tourist and commercial ships at the Asipona cruise terminal.
“Despite being low season, with respect to cruise tourism we closed this month with 19,720 passengers and 5,683 crew members, which represents an economic impact of more than 25 million pesos, leaving with their visit a great benefit for those who are dedicated to transportation and tourism services,” he commented.
He added that in coordination with personnel from the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat and the Tourist Care and Protection Center, the information module located inside the Mazatlán cruise terminal is attended to, where free tourist information is provided for all those who decide to get off the cruise and take the time to visit the port.
He also commented that most visitors are looking to visit the Historic Center, Isla de la Piedra, the Lighthouse and the Golden Zone, while some just want to try the typical cuisine of the port and listen to the regional band music, characteristic of Mazatlán.
For this month of August, four tourist cruise ship arrivals are scheduled, including the Carnival Panorama, the Navigator of the Seas and the Costa Firenze.
