To give them greater splendor, the Government of Mazatlán is carrying out restoration work on monuments and photo booths located along the coastal promenade, which will give a better image of the port to tourists and locals.
Accompanied by the director of Public Works, Rigoberto Arámburo Bojórquez, Mayor Édgar González Zataráin went to the monument “To the continuity of life”, located on Paseo Claussen, to learn about the work to rescue this space.
He mentioned that conservation experts are working hard to repair cracks, replace Venetian mosaics, restore the lighting and the original paint of this work, while highlighting that remodeling is also being carried out on others, such as the monument to the “Fisherman”.
As part of the recovery of the monuments and photo booths that already exist in Mazatlán, as well as the monument to the “Fisherman”, they are also rehabilitating the Carpa Olivera.
González Zataráin stressed that it is a challenge to remove multiple layers of paint that have covered the sculptures, with the aim of returning them to their original state and highlighting their natural beauty, and added that one million 400 thousand pesos were invested in this work.
It is estimated that the work on this rehabilitation will be completed in six weeks.
With this project they not only seek to restore the monuments, but also to highlight the cultural importance of the port and allow locals and tourists to see these sites of interest in their original state.
