Mazatlan lifeguards rescue 64 bathers during May

During May, a total of 64 people were rescued from drowning in the sea off Mazatlán, according to Gustavo Guadalupe Espinoza Bastidas, commander of the Aquatic Rescue Squad in Mazatlán. For the head of the Mazatlán lifeguards, this represents a positive safety balance for beachgoers.

These rescues required 43 interventions at various points along the Mazatlán coast. Notably, 95% of the assisted individuals were tourists who were unfamiliar with the beaches and signage.

“In May, we had 43 rescues and saved 64 people in different areas,” Espinoza Bastidas mentioned. Despite the tourist influx, there were no fatalities in May, which is a significant achievement for beach safety.
