The noise level may not exceed 65 decibels
MAZATLAN. – If you are a charioteer or bus driver, you must pay close attention, because the Ecology Department will carry out an inspection operation during Holy Week and Easter, with the aim of preventing tourist transport from exceeding the volume of music.
Let’s remember that the issue of noise pollution is not new in Mazatlan, and it occurs with a higher incidence during vacation periods, causing discomfort in different areas, but especially in the Historic Center and housing complexes located in tourist areas.
The director of Ecology, Eunice Murúa Figueroa, reported that, like last year, they will deploy a surveillance operation, but this year will be different because there will be sanctions, which can range from 2,000 to 50,000 pesos.
“Public transport, especially charioteers and Pulmonias, they already know that they should lower the music. Last night two were fined and they tell us that it is the tourists who ask them for music like that, but they are the ones who get the fine”.
The municipal official indicated that they will be monitoring that the Environmental and Climate Change Regulations directed by the Municipal Ecology Department are being applied.
She emphasized that loud music is considered a public health problem, since the noise upsets the nerves, in addition to the fact that in the case of transport it can represent a danger for both the driver and the travelers.
From 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., public and private transport can drive and bring music with a decibel of no more than 65.
