MAZATLAN. – Foreign tourism increased around 62 percent in January and February of this year compared to the same period in 2022, which speaks of the confidence to visit Mazatlán, reported the Secretary of Tourism, Estrella Palacios Domínguez.

She mentioned that this increase represents approximately 89,900 more tourists, mainly from the United States and Canada, countries with which connectivity to “the Pearl of the Pacific” is maintained.

“Regarding the evolution of international air passenger traffic from January and February 2023 against 2022, it shows an increase of 62.2 percent, representing 89,900 more foreign tourists,” she declared.

Palacios Domínguez pointed out that the mission of this 2023 for the SECTUR will be to increase and improve the connectivity of the routes, both national and international, to the three airports that Sinaloa has, in Los Mochis, Culiacán and Mazatlán.

“We are doing very well, the number of foreign tourists in Mazatlan has increased, which is important due to the economic benefit that is going to take place,” she said.

The cities with which Mazatlán maintains a commercial relationship in its air connectivity are from the United States: Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Dallas; while, with Canada, they maintain a relationship with Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg and Montreal.

The state official added that, according to the meetings of the Advisory Council, in which hoteliers, tourism promoters and authorities are present, it was agreed to globalize the image of Sinaloa with the rest of Mexico and other countries and to work hand in hand with the airlines to continue with this offer.

The goal, she expressed, is to exceed the number of visitors obtained in 2022 and reach more than 5 million tourists for Sinaloa.
