Mazatlán, Sin.- Given the growth in tourism that the port of Mazatlán has registered in recent years, there is interest from two Spanish hotel chains to have a presence in the city.

Alfredo Ruelas Solís, president of CODESIN in the southern zone, explained that they are looking for investors to develop hotel projects with 300 new rooms.

“It is the result of the promotion of the Sinaloa Investment and Trade Center, during its participation in the International Tourism Fair in Spain,” he said.

In addition, he commented that there are four contracts signed with the Marriott International, Accor and Hilton hotel chains, which will begin construction this year.

Currently, 10 chain hotels are under construction in various areas in Mazatlán, which together add up to 1,551 rooms and an estimated investment of 189 million dollars.

Dreams Resort & Spa has 350 new rooms; Aloft is at 176; the Wyndham Garden Hotels has 118 rooms; the Fiesta Americana Zona Dorada with 170, the Comfort Inn & Suites with 90, the Fiesta Inn with 138 and the One with 144 new rooms.

Ruelas Solís highlighted that the Mazatlán-Durango superhighway came to transform the destination, since the seasons are over and now there are tourists throughout the week.

“And it is not only the highway, but also that this economic growth has developed better conditions, we have attracted hotels and the phenomenon of real estate development that has helped the port a lot,” he concluded.
