Meet Carla Cevallos, the first woman commander of a Navy station in Mazatlán

The Secretary of the Navy highlighted that Carla Iveth Cevallos Peyrot is an officer graduated from the Heroic Navy Military School; During her naval career, she has held different positions and commissions on board surface units, as well as second commands in the ENSAR of Acapulco and the Naval Sector of Islas Marías.

MEXICO CITY.- The Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR) appointed the General Corps Naval Lieutenant, Carla Iveth Cevallos Peyrot, as the first woman commander of a Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR), who will serve in the Eighth Naval Region with headquarters in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

The dependency reported that with these actions, the participation of Navy women and their inclusion is essential for the full development of the powers assigned to this Institution, assuming the strengthening of the gender perspective with the mission of promoting equal opportunities in the exercise of their rights.

This in order to achieve the harmonization of her life and the consolidation of her personal and professional development.

In her professional development, she has taken courses in the Search and Rescue (SAR) field: International Boarding Officer at the United States Coast Guard Academy; Specialization in Law of the Sea and Maritime carried out at the Center for Higher Naval Studies.

She also served as the On-Scene Coordinator for Search and Rescue Operations; Planning of Search and Rescue Operations and Maritime Rescue; and Defender-type Vessel Master Course (PED), held at the Mexican Navy Search, Rescue and Diving School.

“The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico strengthens its operational and administrative capacities with the participation of female personnel and endorses its commitment to naval women to continue working to achieve substantive equality between men and women, with the objective of Serving Mexico” , pointed out the agency.
