Impeachment requested for former mayor of Mazatlán he was removed from his position as secretary of tourism

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The former mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, will face an investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office for the alleged crime of Irregular Performance of Public Function. This announcement was made by Governor Rubén Rocha Moya during a press conference.

The public ministry informed the governor that the impeachment of Benítez Torres has been requested before the State Congress to continue with the investigation. In addition, other officials of the former mayor’s administration are also accused in two open investigation folders.

The state governor announced that the former mayor has been removed as Secretary of Tourism of the State Government and that the Prosecutor’s Office and the judiciary will be in charge of determining the dates on which the trials will be held for the alleged crimes committed.
