The renowned Sinaloan political scientist and columnist, Ernesto Hernández Norzagaray, explores an extraordinary narrative with prose and poetic lyrics; this through his book “Reasons to love Mazatlán”, in homage to the culture of the port.

The event that took place in the gallery of the “Ángela Peralta” Theater, the teacher Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda, leader of the Sinaloense Party, and Dr. Victor Antonio Corrales Burgueño, State President of the PAS, were present as special guests, who expressed their admiration and respect for the author.

“You are a writer, a very prolific person, who has given us a lot to this day. I read the book, and the truth is that after reading it, I want to spend my next 30 or 40 years here in Mazatlán,” Cuén Ojeda stressed.

Very much in his style, Norzagaray’s work recognizes Buenos Aires customs, its characters, magical towns, and culinary delights seasoned with intellectual exchanges that culturally enrich the southern part of Sinaloa.

The book, supported by Editorial UAS, has its first edition in 2022, contains 155 pages and provides a historical tour of the various stages that go from the practice of ulama, as well as the events that occurred in the 19th century, between the yellow bubonic plagues and, along with the city story of the kidnapping of a Carnival queen and the verses that troubadours, poets, narrators and a multitude of people have dedicated to this city and port.

This is a review of the stories, poems, essays and songs among Mazatlan writers, poets, photographers and chroniclers. All observed from the accurate and reflective perspective of the analysis of an author like Hernández Norzagaray.
