MAZATLÁN.- The International Carnival of Mazatlán is getting closer, and proof of this is that we are a few days away from the second and last postulation of candidates for King of Joy, Children’s Queen, Queen of the Carnival and Queen of the Floral Games.

When will the second demonstration take place? On the imposing Malecón de Mazatlán and the main streets of the city, this Friday, January 20 at 4:00 p.m., candidates who aspire to the crowns of the Mazatlán International Carnival 2023 “with 125 years of tradition”, will star in the second carnival demonstration.

Raúl Rico González, general director of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán, indicated that this Friday a great party is expected in the streets where the carnival troop will parade.

To the parade of the candidates is added the participation of the outgoing queens.

“We expect about 300 cars in the caravan, and the route will be from the traditional exit in front of the New Aquarium, along to the Avenida del Mar, turn into Gutiérrez Nájera, follow to Juan Carrasco, Aquiles Serdán, Alemán Avenue, Olas Altas and Ángel Flores”.

The public official commented that at the end of the tour, the applicants for the Carnival crowns will visit the Mayor of Mazatlán, Edgar González Zatarain at the Municipal Palace.

“It is the moment where the party gets better because all the demonstrators congregate in the Plazuela (República), their cheers are demonstrated and a great atmosphere is created”, exclaimed the manager.

One of the reasons why this route was chosen is not to hinder the road project that is being applied in some streets of the city, there is also the precedent of the good response that the demonstration on the boardwalk had.

Alternate routes

The Institute of Culture invites society in general to circulate through alternative routes to the route of the demonstration to keep the carnival among the favorite events of the Mazatlecos.

The next scheduled events will take place on Friday, January 27, which will be the final count in Plazuela República at 5:00 p.m., while on Saturday 28 at the Ángela Peralta Theater at 7:00 p.m. the “Election of Queens” will take place, while on Saturday, February 11, the “Evening of the arts” will be held at the Ángela Peralta Theater.
