White collar crime in Sinaloa. Morena promised to end corruption. His motto, “do not steal, do not lie, do not betray”, in Sinaloa seems a dead letter. What’s more, like a campaign promise of those that everyone knows will never be fulfilled. Two cases crudely exemplify that in Sinaloa crimes are committed and the law is not applied. People’s money is stolen, those responsible are identified and they are not punished. Vile impunity.
In the state capital, the former mayor Jesús Estrada Ferreiro was accused of diverting public resources. And what happened? nothing! If Governor Rubén Rocha Moya believes that having removed him from the mayor’s office is enough, let him ask the citizens. If he committed a crime, let him be judged and punished. If he diverted money, return it. If they don’t do it, then they are the same as the previous ones who are grabbed every so often as a boxer’s bag… They are worse.
The case of the former mayor of Mazatlán Luis Guillermo Benítez is even more illustrative of the impunity enjoyed by white-collar criminals of the 4T. “El Químico” looted the public money of Mazatlan. And we are not saying it, it is confirmed by today’s mayor Édgar González. Of course, he didn’t do it alone. He had his accomplices. And what happened? Well nothing. The criminals pointed out by the same authorities and with processes in the Sinaloa Attorney General’s Office are still there, without being trailed, much less forced to return the money that was stolen.
“El Químico” is not only accused of stealing money from the municipality, but also of looting municipal property with his accomplices. And there he is as Secretary of Tourism. There he is as a member of the cabinet of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya. The insulting impunity for the Sinaloans is there, in the cases of Culiacán and Mazatlán. The State Congress with all its deputies that make it up, the Sinaloa Superior Audit Office and the General Prosecutor’s Office tore their clothes. They launched accusations and prosecuted serious accusations in both cases. And they were on display for not acting and letting the crooks get away with it. pure cynicism. And that outrages any citizen.
In Culture, Raúl Rico, his new secretary, is very good at what he does, but he is not a magician either. Raúl took the Culture challenge knowing that this institute was very, very bad. But already inside, reviewing the “guts” of Culture, he knows that he fell short. The face of the looting that the Mazatlan City Council suffered in the last four years is embodied in Culture. Cold numbers and physical reviews confirm looting. And the challenge for Raúl Rico is enormous.
A meticulous man who demands a lot from himself and raised in the school of striving for perfection, he is perhaps facing the greatest challenge of his life. He won’t be able to do it alone. He requires to be supported. Culture is not only the organization of a carnival. Of course it is important. But Culture is much more… and Raúl Rico knows it.
