MAZATLAN. – The United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, visited Mazatlán and one of the central issues was the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada, essential for development in Sinaloa and the northern economic corridor.  

And it is that, with this TMEC, the idea of ​​companies such as Grupo Caxxor is to potentiate the area with the construction of a commercial port in Mazatlán and railway lines through the northern economic corridor, involving states such as Durango and Coahuila.  

The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, explained that these businessmen have raised the possibility of continuing with the railway to Mazatlán, since there is already one from Durango to El Salto, and they agreed with the governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas, to promote this project.  

The idea, it was explained, is to present it with the Secretary of the Communications and Transportation Secretariat, Jorge Nuño Lara, who already knows what it is about, and thus adding Ambassador Ken Salazar, it would be addressed among the three governors of Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila with the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador. 

“If the United States is interested in this region of ours, it is a guarantee that we can prosper in our development projects…particularly the security environment, the local supply for the companies that settle, international companies that come here, because we have no only the supply of labor, but also other elements that are already manufactured here”, he commented.  

The Secretary of Economy, Javier Gaxiola Coppel, pointed out that the United States is the most important world market in the world, therefore, the other countries that wish to enter the market are starting with the installation of their companies in this area of ​​the TMEC, among Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila.  

Gaxiola Coppel said that Mexico has a variety of competitive advantages, and this is reflected in the multiple investments that are coming to the country.  

“Just this year, we have increased the recruitment of Foreign Direct Investment by 13 percent, compared to 2021. Today we have more than 32 billion dollars. The corridor of this region, represented by Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila, plays a very important role in attracting and developing supply chains that serve the TMEC market.” 

Ken Salazar applauds Sinaloa’s certification for shrimp 

Ambassador Ken Salazar applauded the export certification of shrimp in Sinaloa, as this gives quality to this state over the United States, keeping the doors open for its trade, considered for him, as the largest producer of this seafood.  

This is the ambassador’s second visit to Sinaloa, the first was approximately two months ago, in Mazatlán, at the Convention Center.
