The Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries of Mazatlán points out that Mazatlán is preparing for the new challenges of 2023.

MAZATLÁN.- The results of tourism promotion are visible to all; Simply put, Mazatlán is practically full on weekends, but the challenge for next year is to fill the port from Monday to Wednesday with business tourism, as well as congresses and conventions, said the Secretary of Economic Development, Tourism and Fisheries from Mazatlan, Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas.

He pointed out that the attraction of a greater number of flights is one of the priorities and will depend on whether these allow the rates to be reduced to the destination, they are the highest priority issues on the agenda, not only of Sedectur, but also of Sectur Sinaloa, and, therefore, his position, the governor of the state and the mayor of Mazatlán.

When questioned about the data released on Monday by the mayor, where it was reported that part of the Christmas bonus funds were used in actions to promote economic and tourism, he made it clear that both the trip to Spain and the Formula 1, were events mentioned and are in view.

Velarde Cárdenas mentioned that they were projects presented in a timely and public manner, socialized with the media and with the full knowledge of former mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres and the council body.

“We as a Secretariat do not know where the funds come from, much less that it would affect the Christmas bonuses; We have a project that was presented from the Tianguis Turístico, which was socialized before you the media, before the Cabildo and before different dependencies; I believe that the work is there, the promotion is there and without a doubt the growth and results in tourism are also reflected ”, he mentioned.

He pointed out that the amount invested in the trip to Spain was 2.3 million pesos and 8 million, which implies 10.3 million pesos invested in promoting Mazatlan, 5 percent of the 200 million that is discussed on the subject of Christmas bonuses, he also recalled that The state government and other companies such as Aeroméxico joined in this support to lower costs.

On the other hand, he said that Sedectur studies, as well as the Tres Islas Hotel Association, show that 60 percent of the visitors who arrived at the port did so for the first time, making clear the importance of the promotion.
