MAZATLÁN._ José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, former director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Art of Mazatlán and who today faces a process before the State Attorney General’s Office for improper exercise of public service and irregular performance of public function, left a debt of 20 million pesos, which is currently being absorbed by the agency, said Raúl Rico González, current head of that paramunicipal.

He also reported that at the moment and due to the haste of the Mazatlan International Carnival, 70 workers from the Municipal Institute of Culture will leave.

Rico González explained that there are actually more areas where they must cut staff, however, due to the proximity of Carnival, and in order to respect the work that has already begun, they cannot fire more workers.

“We are going to make a cut in the payroll, there will be around 70 people, the payroll inflated much beyond that, but we have to with the rush of the Carnival, the temporary contracts, I think we are going to be left with 70 less, that’s the idea”.

From what areas?

“Of all…basically in operations, it is the area that has the most, of the 70, there are 40 in operations, and from there we are going to stay with 15 or 20.”

And doesn’t that reduction affect you on the issue of the operation of the Carnival?

“No, not at all,” he said in the halls of the City Hall on the morning of this Monday, November 21.
