Cyclists who travel from Argentina to Alaska are received in Mazatlan

The athletes plan to conclude their adventure in Alaska, on the first days of June 2023.

Two cyclists who a year ago began a bicycle journey from Argentina with the purpose of reaching Alaska, crossing roads and trails, arrived in Mazatlan this week, where they were received by the Sinaloa authorities.

The cyclists said that their route has been along the Pacific Ocean Coast, with an average of 100 kilometers per day, in addition to the breaks they take, like the one now, in this city.

Those who make this trip are the Englishmen Christian Hosking and Phoebe Heveron, who were joined by the Mexican (from Los Mochis, Sinaloa), David Torres Yumuni.

Christian Hosking started this bicycle journey on November 10, 2021, in Bariloche, Argentina, and plans to conclude his adventure in Alaska, on the first days of June 2023 .

He said that his motivation is that for a long time he wanted to tour Latin America by bicycle, his interest was to travel the world and he chose this part of the world because he knows more people and more places than tourists normally visit. Phoebe Heveron, who dated Christian, plans to wrap up her affair in San Francisco, California at the end of January 2023.

He mentioned that he really likes traveling by bike because he sees the world much slower than in a car.

Sinaloan David Torres Yumuni joined them on August 7 in Progreso, Yucatan, and plans to conclude his route in Las Ventanas, Baja California Sur, in mid-November of this year.

He asserted that his personal motivation is to move from one place to another from where he was working and to where he will be next season because he is a kiteboarding instructor and he traveled to Progreso because they are one of the best places in the country to practice this sport.

Those who come from Argentina have pedaled 18 thousand 500 kilometers, while Torres Yumuni has traveled 3 thousand 200 kilometers.

Sectur receives athletes

The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, met with the cyclists in his office, where they spoke about the adventures and experiences that they have lived through thousands of kilometers .

After wishing them a good stay in the port, he told them that without a doubt they will enjoy the beauties and great attractions that Sinaloa has, as well as the security with which they will be able to continue their trip.
