Three cruise ships arrived today: the ‘Discovery Princess, Carnival Panorama and Navigator of the Seas’

Mazatlan is booming as a tourist destination for its beautiful beaches and its first-class services to national and foreign visitors; all complemented by a lively cultural and sports program throughout the year.

Although it has built its tourist fame as a beach destination, Mazatlan is an old city founded in the 16th century by the first wave of conquerors, who needed ports to send their exploited wealth to Spain. Old Mazatlan is a haven of peace with its streets and traditional buildings, among which the cathedral, several squares, the Angela Peralta Theater, the Archeology Museum and the cozy outdoor cafes stand out.

With regard to the arrival of three cruise ships in Mazatlan: the ‘Discovery Princess, Carnival Panorama and Navigator of the Seas’, today we are going to tell you a little about what cruise passengers do when they arrive at the port and the places that most they visit.

Machado Square

One of the first places to visit is Plazuela Machado, the heart of the Historic Center. It was built in 1837, it is considered the oldest and most popular plaza in Mazatlan.

In its surroundings, cruise passengers can find restaurants with delicious cuisine, bars, cafes, live music, craft stalls and more.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

It is the main religious building in Mazatlan since its construction in 1899.

This place features neo-gothic art accentuated by neoclassical influences, with beautiful towers and majestic design. It is one of the tourist attractions that tourists visit the most, who always seek to get the best postcard.

Another of the places they visit is the Plazuela República, there the guides explain a bit of their stories and also show a bit of the Mazatlan City Hall.

Something very usual is to finish the tour with a delicious carafe ice cream, yes, those that are in the corner of the Cathedral.

Angela Peralta Theater

This beautiful place built in 1874 is considered one of the most beautiful and important theaters in the country. Inside you can visit a small museum in honor of the opera singer “Ángela Peralta”.

And if you don’t have the opportunity to see it from the inside, just seeing its façade is more than enough to marvel at its aesthetics and details.

Olas Altas

Cruisers take advantage of Olas Altas to take a walk while admiring the impressive landscape or enjoy a delicious meal or coffee in its many restaurants, bars and cafes.

Calle Ángel Flores

This is one of the most iconic and colorful streets in Mazatlan. Upon arriving at the place, tourists are impressed by the colors, the facades of the houses and the nature that exists.
