“Roslyn” makes landfall in Nayarit as hurricane 3; effects are expected in Sinaloa

A prevention zone is maintained for the effects of hurricane “Roslyn” from Playa Pérula, Jalusci, to Escuinapa, Sinaloa

 “Roslyn” made landfall on the coast of Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit, and moves over Nayarit lands as a category 3 hurricane, according to the latest report issued by the Conagua National Weather Service this Sunday. 

The bulletin issued by the SMN at 7:15 am today indicates that “Roslyn” as a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale is on land. 

“Its extensive cloud bands will maintain conditions for torrential rains in Nayarit, intense rains in Sinaloa, Durango, and northern Jalisco, as well as very heavy punctual rains in Zacatecas and strong in Colima.” 

It is warned that the rains can cause landslides and floods in low-lying areas of the aforementioned regions.

Prevention and surveillance zones 

Its displacement is towards the north-northeast (25°) at 26 km/h, for which reason a hurricane prevention zone is maintained from Playa Pérula, Jal., to Escuinapa, Sinaloa, including the Marías Islands. 

The surveillance zone for hurricane effects is from the north of Escuinapa, to Mazatlán, and the prevention zone for tropical storm effects from the south of Playa Pérula, Jalisco, to Manzanillo, Col., and from the north of Escuinapa, to Mazatlan, Sin. 

Effects of Hurricane “Roslyn” 

Wind gusts of 120 to 150 km/h and waves of 5 to 7 meters in height are forecast with storm surge effects on the coasts of Nayarit and the north coast of Jalisco, wind gusts of 100 to 120 km/h and waves of 4 at 6 meters high with storm surge effects on the central and southern coasts of Jalisco, wind with gusts of 60 to 80 km/h and waves of 2 to 4 meters high on the coasts of Colima and Sinaloa (south).
