The mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres argued, in his defense, that he has a clear conscience

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- This Saturday the mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres made a public presence again, after not attending the Mazatlán City Hall for at least two days.

The mayor clarified that his absence is due to the fact that he attended to matters in Culiacán, however, he explained that he was only in the Sinaloa capital one day, the other making tours of colonies of the Mazatlan port.

This is the first time that “El Químico” Benítez has made a public presence after the Superior State Audit Office (ASE) filed a complaint against him for the alleged crime of irregular performance of the public function.

“I was here in Mazatlán, I only left Culiacán for one day, what happens is that we are rescuing the conditions of the city, the weeds, potholes, lamps, so I go out to supervise.”

“I feel calm because I have a clear conscience, the alleged damage is because we gave an advance to a businessman, it’s not that he stole money from me, that’s the difference, the 60 million can be recovered,” he said.

Benítez Torres is expected to maintain his schedule for next week as normal.
