It is being sought that the number of foreigners in Mazatlan not only increase, but also extend their stay in the port.

MAZATLAN.- The winter season has already begun for the Canadian and American community, and Mazatlan continues to enjoy investment in retirement and vacation homes.

The president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, Roberto Carlos Arellano Osorio, mentioned that between 25 to 30 percent of the foreign community maintains an investment in Mazatlan, either in condominiums or houses.

“Right now we handle 25 to 30 percent foreigners, here vacation rentals and property investment are being handled a lot, which seeks to reinvest, but if you look, a lot of Canadians and Americans come from November to March,” he declared.

Arellano Osorio expressed that in Baja California, the foreign community maintains its greatest boom in destinations such as Valle de Guadalupe and Rosarito; in addition to destinations such as Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.

“At the national level we are positioned as one of the best tourist destinations, but in investment we are between 8th and 10th place… The hotel issue is the one that is coming stronger and in the real estate issue we believe that it is being handled between 3,500 to 5,000 inventories,” he said.

The president of Ampi added that Mazatlán is being an important point that works in competition with the aforementioned destinations, however, they are looking for what would be the differentiator to raise the percentage of interested foreigners.

He added that the challenges are with the authorities, that together they carry out plans for improvements in roads, public services, quality in construction, and thus an increase is achieved, but above all the permanence of foreigners.
