The general manager of Jumapam pointed out that the Mazatlán rate is the lowest of the four largest municipalities in Sinaloa.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- In Mazatlán70% of the hydro-sanitary pipe is old and obsolete and there is not enough budget to change everything at the same time, said the general manager of Jumapam, Osbaldo López Ángulo, in the face of constant complaints from citizens about spills of black water.

For this reason, he invited Mazatlecos to catch up on their expired drinking water service bills and ask about programs to waive surcharges.

He also pointed out that an increase in the minimum rate for this service is being considered again.

How much would the increase be?

Currently, the minimum rate is 93 pesos and it is seeking to increase it to 25%, that is, it would rise to approximately 116 pesos.

“We are preparing the opinions to be able to send it to the State Congres, who defines whether or not the increase is appropriate,” he said.

He added that Mazatlan‘s rate is the lowest of the four largest municipalities in Sinaloa, including CuliacánAhome and Guasave, where the minimum is up to 250 pesos.

In January of this year was the last time that the minimum rate for drinking water was raised from 87 to 93 pesos.
