‘Mazatlán position for growth and consolidation’

MAZATLAN.- For the HVS Mexico consultant, Richard Katzman, Mazatlan is at a point of repositioning, with a potential market and the consolidation it deserves to become the destination in the north of the country.

In a post-pandemic balance, he mentioned that at the national level, the destinations already established are three, Los Cabos, in Baja California Sur; Puerto Vallarta- Riviera Nayarita, between Jalisco and Nayarit; and Cancun-Riviera Maya, between Quintana Roo and Yucatan.

Markets such as Mazatlán, which, although they have grown in tourist flow and investment, are still in potential, but so are La Paz, in Baja California Sur; Costa Alegre, between Jalisco and Colima; Acapulco Guerrero; Puerto Escondido, in Oaxaca, and Bacalar, in Quintana Roo.

What is in Sinaloa then?

Katzman explained that the development trend exists and that investment in tourism is evident, however, most of it is local or national, not foreign, according to HVS Mexico studies.

“There are other slightly more mature markets that already have investment funds, domestic ones, some capitalized by foreign capital, that have more and more access to different types of credit. There is an exercise in this evolution for Mazatlan markets to be able to continue integrating into the real estate capital markets and it is part of the challenge that awaits them, ”he declared.

The consultant pointed out that there are funds with fixed and established mandates by foreign investment that, due to the lack of positioning of Mazatlan, do not look good and that they are exclusive to invest in the consolidated destinations, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarita and Riviera Maya.

It can?

Of course, he commented, because the mandates of the investment funds are constantly changing, ensuring that the investments are generated for 10 to 12 years, that is, as a plan for the future, above all, in places with positioning work and in the case of Mazatlan, relaunch.

“This was one of the original markets, it was one of the markets that gave Mexico a presence and this is a repositioning and a rebirth with potential. We talk about changes in the infrastructure, improvements in the attractions of the square”, he said.

What is missing, he added, is that the growth areas be jointly defined, where it can grow and generate opportunities, because without a doubt, the economy that it has in real estate, tourism and others, is the watershed that something is done right.

“I invite you to zoom out, in the end you are part of an industry, try to position yourself and forward, the destinations in the center and north are solid”, concluded the consultant.
