Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- The festival of La Taspana, Intangible Heritage of Sinaloa, returns to San Javier, San Ignacio, with new energy and expects to gather around 2,500 people, from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 October.
In the event, one of the oldest in the region, which dates back to 1865, will offer attendees gastronomic samples and cultural and artistic activities in a totally family atmosphere.
The president of the Pro San Javier patronage, Alberto Torrero, reported that after three years without holding the festival, due to the havoc caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, they are now prepared to receive visitors and celebrate together.
“We want to keep the celebration alive and for people to enjoy this totally family-friendly party,” he said.
For his part, the director of Municipal Tourism of San Ignacio, Carlos Piña Cruz, invited society in general to join La Taspana, a tradition of the 19th century, which was born with the Zazueta family, when they went out to remove the weeds of the streets of the town, after the rains.
“This celebration takes place on the third weekend of October and this is a festival that gives identity to San Javier and it is a festivity with a strong impact on tourism, on families in the region and the state,” he said. .

During her speech, the director of Sinaloa Tourism Promotion and Operation, Ana María Trewartha Humarán, invited the population to support and not lose the tradition of La Taspana.

The program of activities will begin on Friday, October 14 with an exhibition of drawings made by the children of the San Javier primary school .
The next day they inaugurate the gastronomic corridor at 8 in the morning in the Plaza de La Fuente; at 12 noon is the welcome and start of the annual parade San Ignacio; At 4 in the afternoon, the La Taspana alley opens, the official site for the souvenir photo, and from 6:00 p.m. the festival begins with various cultural events, in coordination with the Sinaloa Institute of Culture.
