Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- So far this year, 40 people have committed suicide in Sinaloa, a figure that alarms health authorities, since the trend of dying by one’s own hand is on the rise, reported Cuitláhuac González Galindo.

The secretary of health commented that 80 percent of suicides belong to people of the male sex, while drug addictiondepression, and psychiatric illnesses are the main factors, a situation that turns on the red lights.

“The suicide rate in Sinaloa is around 40 so far this year, a range between 25 and 40 years more or less where there is a higher incidence,” he said.

He mentioned that the municipalities where suicides mostly occur are GuasaveMazatlán, and Ahome.

“Something that draws our attention is that 80 percent are men, we are taking measures through what is ceptca, we are looking at the additions area, the prevention area, they have a department that deals with that issue and we want to address it a little more, ”he indicated.

He asserted that from the dependency, the Ceptca area manages strategies in order to reduce mortality rates from this cause.

In the printed edition of the weekly El Sol de Sinaloa, this Monday an investigation of deaths by suicide was published, where it is highlighted according to the SSA that in the entity, in the last 7 years, more than 700 Sinaloans have committed suicide.
