The Municipal Civil Protection coordinator indicated that more rains are expected today as effects of Madeline.
MAZATLAN. – During the weekend there were two intense days of rain throughout the port of Mazatlan, Saturday was the day with the greatest presence of water, reported the coordinator of Municipal Civil Protection, Eloy Ruiz Gastélum.
He mentioned that during the night-early morning of Saturday, a lot of water fell, reaching 85 millimeters, which affected many people, mainly those who were in the Golden Zone, at the height of Camarón Sábalo avenue.
«There were different intensities of rain from day to Saturday, presenting greater complications more from 12:30 to 3:30 in the morning, in addition to the fact that the precipitation was not the best, nor was it the day since many people were party,” said Ruiz Gastelum.
He commented that on Sunday, the rains dumped around 35 millimeters per square meter, much less than on Saturday, but that of Sunday had a lot of electrical activity.
The official pointed out that there was no problem last night, nor conflicts, since the rain in gusts, first at 10:30 p.m. and then at 2:00 a.m., lasted from 10 to 15 minutes each.
On the other hand, he stressed that the rainfall will continue in the next few hours, due to a low-pressure channel by the tropical storm “Madeline”, but it does not represent any complications.
“The last communiqué that arrived indicates that the storm is located just over 600 kilometers from here, south of the city with a clear trajectory to the west,” he stressed.
He added that they remain vigilant in the low areas, mainly in a large part of the communities of Barrón, El Roble and Walamo.
Picachos dam full
On the subject of the Picachos dam, the Municipal Civil Protection coordinator indicated that it is still full at its maximum level, and supervision continues.
“We have seen, together with Conagua personnel, that the dam is maintained at 100 percent, and the people who live near the place are still vigilant, but there is no danger,” he said.
